Armenian Defense Minister deems progress in army apparent

Armenian Defense Minister positively assessed Armenians’ attitude about the army.

“Though the current situation in the army is not perfect, there is apparent progress,” Seyran Ohanyan said, noting border security, fulfillment of the military duty, reinforcement of engineering facilities on border and arms acquisition as major tasks of the army.

Dwelling on “the fact that 2011 was the most successful year for promotion of discipline, with the least number of losses recorded,” Minister Ohanyan noted every loss as pain and mourning, with austerity measures taken jointly with law-enforcement bodies to prevent oversights in further activity.

“Due to proposals and constructive approach of non-governmental organizations and individuals we cooperate with, the situation in the army is improved on a daily basis,” Minister said.
