Turkish Labor Minister: no need to be Armenian to condemn Dink murder

Turkish Labor Minister Faruk Çelik has said that “we do not all have to be Armenians” to condemn the murder of Hrant Dink, Today’s Zaman reported.

“There is no need to change one's identity to condemn the brutal killing of a person,” he said.

“We should not use race and belief as a basis for criticism. We should not use them as a basis for our criticism. There is no need to look for an identity to condemn the murder. It is sufficient to be human and have a conscience. We do not all have to be Armenians,” Çelik said in a statement dated to the 5th anniversary of the assassination, when tens of thousands of Turkish citizens took to the streets to honor the memory of the slain journalist.
