Ukrainian expert deems Genocide bill passage fair

French Senate’s decision on the bill penalizing Genocide denial is completely fair, according to G.S. Skovoroda Philosophy Institute director, member of Ukraine’s National Academy of Sciences.

“There is documentary evidence, confirming the enormity against Armenians. It’s an undeniable fact that it was Genocide,” Miroslav Popovich told Analitika.at.ua, slamming persistent denial of crimes against a whole nation.

Earlier, 76 French Senators appealed to the constitutional council with a request to reconsider the Genocide bill.

On January 23 the French Senate passed the bill with 127 votes for and 86 against.

On December 22, 2011, it was adopted by the French National Assembly. The bill will impose a 45,000 euro fine and a year in prison for anyone in France who denies this crime against humanity committed by the Ottoman Empire.
