Zhirinovsky: Russia will never leave Armenia alone

Head of Liberal Democratic Party of Russia Vladimir Zhirinovsky positively assessed French Senate’s decision on the bill criminating the Armenian Genocide denial.

“We want to tease neither Armenia nor Azerbaijan by setting forth the initiative of adopting a similar bill. The two nations were on good terms within the Soviet Union, whereas they started antagonizing each other following the collapse of the USSR. I keep stating that there is no end to Nagorno Karabakh conflict. OSCE Minsk Group, France and other states will never be able to resolve the issue. Russia will never leave Armenia alone in face of direct threats by Turkey, which, intends to conquer Caucasus and the Russian cities of Voronezh, Volgograd and Rostov.

On January 23 the French Senate passed the bill with 127 votes for and 86 against.

On December 22, 2011, it was adopted by the French National Assembly. The bill will impose a 45,000 euro fine and a year in prison for anyone in France who denies this crime against humanity committed by the Ottoman Empire.
