During an archeological expedition in Turkey's Diyarbakır, scientists discovered a burial place near a town fortress of Ickale.

The scientists first thought it was the burial place of Kurds killed by Turkish gendarmes in 1990s. However, it turned out later that the remains are approximately 90 years old, what hints that they may belong to Armenians slaughtered during the Genocide, Taraf daily reports.

About 56.166 Armenians lived in Diyarbakır in 1914. According to archives, 97 percent of Armenians “disappeared” in a year.
