Expert: Armenia will hold neutral stance in face of U.S-Iran war

Armenia will hold the position of friendly neutrality on Tehran in case of U.S.- Iran war, according to director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the RA NAS. Ruben Safrastyan further empathized the role of “the Russian factor” in Armenia’s approach towards Iranian developments.

In this context, deputy head of YSU Oriental Studies department Vardan Voskanyan stressed the need for Armenia to explain to the West the importance of centuries-old friendly ties with Iran.

Deputy director of Noravank Foundation Sevak Sarukhanyan, in turn, noted that Armenia will neither back nor get involved in any of anti-Iran actions, suggesting it should use the current situation to urge the West to exert pressure on Turkey aimed at achieving ratification of Armenian-Turkish protocols and opening of border.
