Italy recalls Ambassador over violence in Syria

Italy on Tuesday, February 7 recalled its ambassador to Syria for consultations over the “unacceptable violence” in the country, the Italian Foreign Ministry said.

Italian Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi had recalled ambassador Achille Amerio to Rome, the ministry said in a statement.

The decision followed “the firm condemnation and disdain of the Italian government for the unacceptable violence perpetrated by the regime of Damascus against the civilian population,” the statement said, M&C reported, citing DPA.
