Baku allocates USD 63 mln for 2012 Eurovision

Azerbaijan will allocate AZN 50 mln ($63 mln) from state budget for organization of 2012 Eurovision Song Contest.

The distribution of the fund aimed at holding of international events in Azerbaijan was approved in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Finance.

According to order, AZN 5.4 mln will be granted for Ministry of Culture and tourism, AZN 3.8 mln for State Committee for Diaspora, AZN 2.9 mln for Ministry of Economic Development, AZN 2.6 mln for Ministry of foreign Affairs, AZN 828,000 for Milli Majlis, according to Azerbaijan Press Association.

On January 17, the head of the Armenian delegation to Eurovision, Gohar Gasparyan said that Armenia’s participation in the contest proves its full fledged membership in European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

Azerbaijan’s Ell/Nikki duet with Running Scared song won the Eurovision 2011. Italy's Raphael Gualazzi with Madness Of Love song took second place followed by Eric Saade from Sweden.

Armenia’s Emmy was knocked out of Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in the May 10 seminal, although her performance of Boom Boom song was met warmly by the audience at Arena stadium in Düsseldorf, Germany.
