YEREVAN AWAITING EU POSITION DEVELOPMENT ON SOUTH CAUCASUS
Armenia wishes the European Union to develop and announce its position regarding the South Caucasus. As reported by Mediamax agency, Armenian president Robert Kocharian stated today at the joint press conference with Lithuanian president Rolandas Paksas. "We wish the South Caucasus to be involved within the frames of the EU immediate interests", - Armenian leader said. In his words, the goal of the democratic and economic reforms carried out in Armenia is to bring the country near to the general European standards. R. Kocharian noted that the process of integration into Europe will become much more effective in case the three South Caucasian countries coordinate their efforts, and in this view, the experience gained by the Baltic countries may appear rather helpful for Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan.
