Hydro power plants to open in Syunik and Karabakh

Cooperation agreements in the fields of energy and education were signed during the visit of Slovak delegation headed by member of the National Council of the Slovak Republic František Mikloško, the Chairman of the Forum of Armenian Associations of Europe said.

“Student exchange agreements were reached between universities of Goris, Stepanakert and Slovakian university in Skalica. Joint forums and conferences are planned with students from Armenia, Artsakh and Slovakia participating,” Ashot Grigorian said.

Dwelling on energy sphere, Mr. Grigoryan noted official opening of a small hydropower station in Nagorno Karabakh, constructed through assistance of Slovak and Czech businessmen and companies.

“Agreements on construction of other two 50 megawatt hydro power plants in Syunik and Karabakh were signed,” Ashot Grigorian said.

Moreover, agreements were reached on possible purchase of mining equipments by Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine (ZCMC).

“These are new equipments that will ensure ZCMC operation without harming the ecology,” Grigoryan said.
