Armenian Genocide Museum Institute director deems the case of “Khojalu massacre” simple political manipulation by the Azerbaijani authorities aimed against Ayaz Mütallibov, the last leader of Soviet Azerbaijan.

Hayk Demoyan noted use of “Khojalu events” as a mere tool helping keep former Azerbaijani President’s family aside from political developments, citing intensification of authorities’ policy regarding the issue during pre-election period as a vivid proof of the aforesaid.

According to the expert, invention of “Khojalu massacres” and “Azeri genocide” target “consolidation of Azeri shaky national identity.”
