Malaysian and Thai authorities have discussed the possible extradition of an Iranian man suspected of involvement in blasts this week in Bangkok, the Malaysian home minister said Friday, February 17, M&C reported citing DPA.

Hishammuddin Hussein said Malaysian authorities were in close contact with their Thai counterparts to discuss the matter but the extradition of Masoud Sedaghat Zadeh, 31, would depend on the legal situation.

“For the time being, the Iranian man is still in detention here,” he said.

Malaysian immigration agents detained Masoud Wednesday at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport as he was about to leave for Iran. He allegedly fled Bangkok late Tuesday after a series of explosions that injured several people.

Thai authorities have said they want the suspect to be deported back to Bangkok to face charges in connection with the explosions.

Israeli officials have said they suspect a link between Tuesday's blasts in Bangkok and two incidents in Georgia and India on Monday. Israel accused Iran of being behind attempted attacks against its diplomats in those two countries.
