Vietnam's Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung stressed his country's enthusiasm for the further reinvigoration of relations with Tehran, and called for increasing mutual cooperation between the two countries.

Fars News Agency reported that speaking at a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Hanoi Ghavam Shahidi on Friday, Feb 17, Nguyen expressed hope that the Iran-Vietnam relations will expand in all fields, especially economy and trade.

Shahidi for his part hoped for promotion of the relations in the economic, trade and cultural fields, in the energy namely oil and gas in particular, in the coming years.

He asked Vietnamese Prime Minister to further support the ties to facilitate the cooperation in all fields.

In October 2011, Vietnam's President Truong Tan Sang said the positive trend in Tehran-Hanoi ties heralds promising prospects for the two countries' future relations.

The Vietnamese leader made the remarks in a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Hanoi.

Sang thanked the efforts made by the Iranian envoy to expand the bilateral ties between the two sides, and stated, "Vietnam attaches special importance to the promotion of its relations with Iran."
