Portsmouth FC enters bankruptcy protection

English soccer club Portsmouth has been forced to enter bankruptcy protection for the second time in two years.

The 2008 FA Cup winners are set to be deducted 10 points in England's second division, which would only leave them out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

Portsmouth's application to go into financial administration was approved at London's High Court on Friday, Feb 17 after racking up debts of about $6 million.

Portsmouth's parent company, Convers Sports Initiatives, went into administration in November, The Associated Press reported.
