Syrian blogger released but banned from leaving the country

Following her second arrest on Thursday, Feb 16, Syrian blogger Razan Ghazzawi has been released, The Next web reported.

Razan’s sister, Nadine, confirmed the news on Twitter, adding however, that authorities have imposed a travel ban on the blogger. The post reads: “#FreeRazan #Syria Sister is home :) but she can't leave the country anymore...they won't allow her :S”

Arrested during a raid on the Syrian Centre for Media and Freedom of Expression (SCMFE), Razan along with the rest of her female colleagues are said to have been released, but there is no news of the remaining detainees.

Authorities have left no stone unturned in their attempt to put ongoing protests in Syria to an end. According to CNN, the regime supporters are now attempting to infect dissidents’ computers in an attempt to spy on them.

The government has also taken measures to block live streaming service, Bambuser. Footage streamed using the Sweden-based service had been picked up my mainstream media outlets including CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera and SkyNews.
