ATOM EGOYAN'S "ARARAT" PRIVATELY VIEWED IN TURKEY
Despite the secret ban imposed upon the showing in Turkey Atom Egoyan's "Ararat" depicting the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire, the film is already being privately viewed in the country. According to the reporter of Sabakh Turkish newspaper Emre Akoz, who has already seen the film, "Ararat" should nevertheless be shown in Turkey. Expressing the opinion that Turkey should not avoid discussions of the "Armenian issue", he advised the nationalists boycotting the film to speak on the subject and publish the documents referring to the historical facts. To remind, the view of the film that was planned January 16 has been postponed for an indefinite period because of the active protests of the local nationalistic organizations regarding the demonstration of the film as a perfidious step.
