The coalition Prosperous Armenia party may outrun the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) in the upcoming parliamentary elections, but it will rank at least the second, head of Sociometer sociological center Aharon Adibekyan said.

Prosperous Armenia must hold a proper pre-election campaign to secure victory, the sociologist told a press conference in Yerevan.

In this regard, Adibekyan reminded of the elections 2007 when preliminary surveys indicated Prosperous Armenia’s leadership while RPA took a significant lead during the elections.

If the Prosperous Armenia comes the second in the parliamentary race, joining a coalition with RPA will be the only option to preserve power for the party, Adibekyan thinks.

Responding to the question how former foreign minister Vartan Oskanian’s joining Prosperous Armenia will influence the party’s rating, Adibekyan said such personalities will help the party. However, he noted, Oskanian does not have his personal rating which would add to Prosperous Armenia’s profile, because he is still to become a political figure.
