Today Armenia is celebrating the 12-nd anniversary of the Armenian Armed Forces, the formation of which began in the crucible of the national liberation movement for Nagorno Karabakh. January 28, 1992 defense ministry of the country was formed due to the resolution issued by the RA government. Since then January 28 has been celebrated as the day of the National Armenian Army. Vazgen Sargsian was appointed the first minister of defense of independent Armenia. The Armenian President, chairman of the RA National Assembly and Prime Minister delivered congratulating speeches on account of the holiday, noting that the formation of the Armenian army is one of the most considerable achievements of independent Armenia. By the decree of RA defense minister Serge Sargsian, holiday fireworks consisting of 12 volleys will be let off tonight.
