Katy Perry offered role in opera singer bio-pic

Katy Perry could make her feature movie debut in a biopic developed by Weinstein, the same studio that produced recent Oscar winner "The Artist". The singer was approached by Harvey Weinstein at his Oscars pre-party at SoHo House to take part in a movie about British opera singer Paul Potts, AceShowbiz reported.

Weinstein was said telling Perry to take the role of Potts's wife, Julie-Ann, whom the tenor met via online dating. Potts claimed his fame after winning the first series of "Britain's Got Talent" in 2007. He was a manager at mobile phone store who said he was often bullied as a child.

Perry reportedly said, "I love a challenge", in response to Weinstein's offer. The producer later told NY Post, "I was talking to Katy about a new project, a possible dramatic role in the Paul Potts movie, which will be shooting in England soon. We'd really like someone like Katy or Adele to play the role of Potts' wife, and Katy seemed genuinely interested."

Titled "One Chance" after Potts' debut album, the film is to be directed by David Frankel. Weinstein is still in negotiations with an undisclosed British actor to play the role of Potts.
