Gérard Depardieu joins Mariinsky theatre in Oedipus the King

Gérard Depardieu, one of France's most famous actors, is expected to perform as a speaker in Igor Stravinsky’s opera-oratorio Oedipus the King at Theatre Champs Elysees in Paris on Wednesday, March 7, The Voice of Russia reported citing ITAR-TASS.

The actor will be accompanied by the Mariinsky Orchestra and Chorus conducted by Valery Gergiev.

This will be Depardieu’s second take on Stravinsky’s opera-oratorio after the premier performance during the 18th White Nights Festival in Saint Petersburg in 2010.
