Quake hits Southern Iran, no casualty reports yet

An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale struck the town of Bastak in Hormozgan province, Southern Iran, on Monday, March 12.

The Seismological center of Hormozgan province affiliated to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University registered the quake at 08:39 am local time (0509GMT).

The epicenter of the quake was located in an area 54.8 degrees in longitude and 27.1 degrees in latitude.

There are yet no reports on the number of possible casualties or damage to properties by the quake, Fars News Agency said.
