Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) said that strategy of the organization’s further activity is currently being developed, with Armenian leadership showing great interest in ensuring the country’s security.

At a press conference in Yerevan Nikolai Bordyuzha favored Armenia’s development in recent years, enhancement of military potential aimed at border protection.

CSTO head noted that further activity of the organization was discussed in the framework of the organization, particularly military cooperation, issues related to Russia’s nuclear weapon, efficiency of the system of fight against drug addiction and media activities.

“Armenia enjoys a special status in CSTO, as it has no common border with the rest of CSTO member-states, moreover it is isolated from the outside world and has territorial conflicts,” Mr. Bordyuzha said.

He further dwelt on Azerbaijan’s armament, noting arms acquisition as the sovereign right of every state, whereas intensified accumulation of weapons in Nagorno Karabakh conflict zone won’t benefit the conflict settlement.
