Maastricht hosts symposium titled “Saint Cervantes of Armenia.”

On March 10, Dutch city of Maastricht hosted a symposium by local Armenian organization “Ani” honoring the memory of Saint Cervantes.

Armenian ambassador to the Netherlands Dzyunik Aghajanian was present at the event titled “Saint Cervantes of Armenia.”

The envoy stressed the input of Saint Cervantes into the spread of Christianity in the Netherlands, as well as development of Armenian-Dutch relations.

Minister for Immigration, Integration and Asylum Affairs Gerd Leers, also present at the event, stressed the impact of the Armenian community on settlement of problems in the Netherlands.

The Minister was presented with the first copy of the book titled “Saint Cervantes of Armenian”.

The symposium featured works by Komitas, Sayat-Nova and other famous Armenian composers.
