Levon Julfalakyan pleased with his wrestlers’ performance in Serbia

Chief coach of Armenia’s Greco-Roman wrestling team said that he is pleased with performance of Armenian wrestlers at the European Championships in Belgrade.

“Three wresters out of the 7 won medals. Artur Aleksanyan became a European champion, while Arsen Julfalakyan and Yuri Patrikeev gained bronze. To tell the truth, I expected number of medals to be 4. However, Roman Amoyan was not allowed to break through to the next round,” Levon Julfalakyan said.

According to him, all the wrestlers showed good results.

“Though some of the Armenian representatives lacked relevant experience, we managed to occupy the 5th place as a team,” the coach said.

From April 5, Greco-Roman wrestling team will start team practice session, getting ready for the ranking tournaments. The first tournament will be held from April 20-22 in Bulgaria followed by a tournament in China from April 27-29 and the last ranking tournament in Finland scheduled for May 4-6. Arsen Julfalakyan (74 kg) was the only member of the Armenia’s Greco-Roman wrestling team to win a tour to London Olympics.
