Armenian Christian Democratic Union head may join RPA

President of Armenian Christian Democratic Union said that his party won’t run for parliament in 2012.

“First, the party lacks relevant financial resources, while elections necessitate large investments. Second, our party audience is not that large to secure enough votes,” Khosrov Harutyunyan told a press conference on March 14.

He noted that Armenia’s further involvement in Europe’s political life depends on the oncoming parliamentary elections.

“European integration has never been that feasible for Armenia before as it is today,” head of the party said.

Dwelling on RA President Serzh Sargsyan’s speech at the 13th congress of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), he noted that President clearly voiced the idea that each citizen should change himself/herself to secure the core changes Armenian society is in need of.

Upon completion of his speech, RA National Assembly ex-speaker added that negotiations are currently under way on his joining the RPA.
