US HOPES ARMENIAN AND AZERI LEADERS CAN LEAD KARABAKH SETTLEMENT OUT OF STALEMATE
US Assistant Secretary of State Elizabeth Jones hopes for the Armenian and Azeri leaders to "be able to lead the situation out of the stalemate via politically complicated compromises necessary to solve the Nagorno Karabakh conflict." As reported by Mediamax agency, E. Jones noted Washington "is trying to achieve reduction of tension in relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which will create new opportunities of regional cooperation and trade." As before, the settlement of the Karabakh conflict is the clue to that end, the Assistant Secretary of State said when addressing the International Relations Committee of the Congress. It should be reminded that February 5 Elizabeth Jones stated "certain proposals" are made to the parties of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, refusing to specify them.
