Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan will visit Moscow on March 19 to take part in the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) summit, presidential press service reports.

The summit will bring together leaders of EurAsEC member-states and observer countries.

The treaty establishing the EurAsEC was signed on October 10, 2000 in Astana and became effective on May 30, 2001 upon ratification by all member states.

Five states have been members of the Community since its inception: Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan.

In May 2002, Moldova and Ukraine were granted observer status. In 2003, Armenia joined the EurAsEc as an observer.
