RPA to gain over 50% of parliament seats by proportional system - politician

Head of Constitutional Rights Union Hayk Babukhanyan expects the electoral list of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) to garner over 50% by proportional system at the forthcoming parliamentary elections.

He explains this first by the party’s political vector targeting stability, changes for the better and development; second, by observing a range of competitors, and third by mayoral elections in Armenian northeast town of Hrazdan.

Mr. Babukhanyan further voiced confidence for Prosperous Armenia coalition party to be represented in the parliament, while other parties have yet to prove they have relevant electorate to help them overcome the 5% barrier and make their way to the parliament.

“RPA candidates list comprises 7 parties, Yerkrapah Volunteer Union, a number of public and patriotic unions. This broad social and political front aims to boost the county’s standard of living,” he said.
