Dink murder trial resumed in Istanbul

PanARMENIAN.Net - The general secretary of FIDH (International Federation for Human Rights) arrived in Turkey for the hearing of Hrant Dink's assassination: "Dink's trial is a test of human rights for Turkey."



FIDH (International Federation for Human Rights) General Secretary Florence Bellivier arrived in Turkey to attend the hearing on Agos newspaper editor-in-chief Dink's assassination. Bellivier held a press conference at the Istanbul branch of the Human Rights Association. Bellivier said: "Today's hearing will be a test of human rights for Turkey. It may provide an opportunity to bring light to many human rights violations." The third hearing will be held at the 14th High Criminal Court in Besiktas, Istanbul at 10:00. The statements by suspects Yasin Hayal and Erhan Tuncel will be taken at the hearing. A camera recording system will be used for the first time in a civil court, Sabah reports.



19 suspects stand trial. The state prosecution demands life sentence for initiators and the perpetrator and 18-24 years in prison for those privy to the murder.
