According to the early returns by 6:00 p.m. made public by chairman of the central electoral commission Artak Sahradian, current head of the state, presidential candidate Robert Kocharian has collected 49.8% of grassroots votes, leader of the People party of Armenia Stepan Demirchian has 27.7%, head of "National Unification" party Artashes Geghamian - 17%.

In particular, Vanadzor-Dilijan, Vanadzor-Yerevan, Meghri-Kapan highways are blocked.

In his words, Armenia is able to hold elections without shortcomings, "nevertheless there are people, who are still trying to hamper that."

As leader of the Democratic party of Armenia Aram Sargsian said, "the opposition considers chairman of the People party of Armenia Stepan Demirchian has won the presidential elections."

In Commission press secretary Lilit Sedrakian's words, thereupon the commission did not receive and provide information on the elections from district electoral commissions by 2:00 p.m. as planned beforehand.

Constantine Merkulov also reported that 500 blank ballots had been discovered at the electoral headquarters of candidate for president, chairman of the Democratic party of Armenia Aram Sargsian.
