Authorities try to ban opposition parliamentary candidate election - paper

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian President, leader of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Serzh Sargsyan was visiting the town of Hrazdan on May 2, Hraparak paper says.

In his speech, the President declared he never forgets his fellow servicemen, and God be with those who betray their principles. According to the paper, Sargsyan hinted at Sasoun Mikaelyan, nominated by the opposition Armenian National Congress in 25th constituency in Hrazdan for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

According to Hraparak’s data, the authorities have instructed to make every effort to ban the opposition candidate from winning the May 6 vote.

The paper reminds that David Kocharyan is the pro-governmental candidate in this constituency. Kocharyan, Prosperous Armenia party’s nominee is also the relative of RPA’s proportional candidate Mkhitar Harutyunyan who enjoys support by RPA member Hrazdan mayor as well.

Serzh Sargsyan, however, did not call Hrazdan residents to support this candidate, paper says.
