Baku Calls to Avoid "Extreme Approaches" to Karabakh Issue

PanARMENIAN.Net - "The only possible way of the regulation of the Azerbaijani-Armenian conflict is reintegration of Nagorno Karabakh into the rest part of Azerbaijan," Araz Azimov, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, said at a briefing on the returns of the visit of OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs to Baku on Thursday. He noted that the Azerbaijan's position on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement didn't undergo any changes and Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani President, would state it anew at the meeting with his Armenian counterpart Robert Kocharian. According to Azimov, the interest of the world community in the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh problem grows that it is an impulse to play its part in solution of the problem. At the same time he said that difference between Azerbaijani and Armenian positions assumed evidence, and the sides must avoid of extreme approaches. According to Azimov, Nagorno Karabakh is an integral part of Azerbaijan and the territorial integrity of the country is not a subject of discussions for Baku. "Insisting on separation of these territories from Azerbaijan is the position, which will radically change the current situation and deliver a blow to the regional security," he stressed.

As to the dislocation of the peacemaking forces in the region, Azimov noted that the issue had not been discussed yet and it required some conditions, particularly, liberation of the Azerbaijan's occupied territories, measures on mine clearing, repatriation of refugees and internally displaced persons, restoration of communication lines. "In principle, dislocation of the forces can take 90 days or 2 months, but can be delayed as well. All these issues will be reflected in the final agreement," Azimov underlined, Trend agency reported.
