US AID PROGRAMS TO ARMENIA SHIFTED FROM HUMANITARIAN TO DEVELOPMENT

PanARMENIAN.Net - The US aid programs to Armenia have shifted from humanitarian to development ones. US ambassador to Armenia John Ordway stated it. In his words, the United States have successively realized aid programs in Armenia, which have appreciably changed their direction within the past 10 years. Humanitarian programs providing for rendering food and fuel are a small component at the moment, the ambassador emphasized, and added that "special emphasis is laid on development programs in transition period." John Ordway features the level and quality of "our cooperation with the Armenian government, diaspora and non-governmental organizations" in achieving it. The ambassador also noted that it let realizing still larger-scale programs. "Within the context of these programs we try to create a common concept for further reforms, and some progress is already made within the concept framework," - John Ordway said.
