PanARMENIAN.Net - Brazil's privately run GESPI Defense Systems is going to sell 84 mm ALAC man-portable shoulder-launched medium-range light anti-armour weapons to Azerbaijan, IHS Jane's reports.

The South American company developed the weapon in cooperation with the Brazilian Army's Technological Center (CTEx), a spokesperson said.

Also, GESPI Defense Systems is in advanced negotiations with Mexico, which has requested 1,200 of the one-shot anti-armour weapon, and with Iraq, which is considering 2,000.

Azerbaijan, according to the source, has requested an initial tranche of 50 and is considering in-country manufacturing of additional units.

Preliminary discussions are currently underway for selling the weapons to Portugal and Indonesia.
