PACE EXPERTS' REPORT ON MONITORING ARMENIA AND AZERBAIJAN WILL BE HEARD IN PARIS IN SEPTEMBERAugust 6, 2002 - 20:08 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - At the coming session of the monitoring group on the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, which will be held in Paris September 10, the question of fulfillment of the obligations undertaken by Armenia and Azerbaijan when entering the organization will be heard. According to Baku information sources, the monitoring group report on the situation in Azerbaijan is almost ready. As it is known, PACE rapporteurs Andreas Gross and Martinas Kasan, who had to prepare the final draft of the report, were in Baku in mid-July. It is also known that official Baku attitude towards Andreas Gross is rather ambiguous and Baku accuses him of negative subjectivity against Azerbaijan. But, as noted by the chief of the permanent representation of Azerbaijan in the European Council Akshin Mekhtiev, the rapporteur's remarks cannot influence the relations between Baku and Strasbourg. Meanwhile, a similar PACE report on Armenia is not ready yet. In CE Armenian delegation head Hovhannes Hovhannisian's words, the visit of the monitoring group to Yerevan is planned August 19. Within the framework of the visit the experts will meet with the country top leadership and will visit confinement places.
