Karabakh blockade: Yerevan urges Moscow to fulfill obligations

PanARMENIAN.Net - President of the Armenian National Assembly Alen Simonyan has called on Russia to fulfill its obligations, amid Azerbaijan’s establishment of a checkpoint on the sole road connecting Nagorno Karabakh to Armenia.

“The installation of a checkpoint in Lachin Corridor by [Azerbaijan] in the area of responsibility of [Russian] Peacekeeping contingent is totally unacceptable as it is a gross violation of Provision 6 of the trilateral statement dated 9 November 2020,” Simonyan tweeted.

“We call on [Russia] to fulfill its obligation by ensuring the withdrawal of [Azerbaijani] forces from entire security zone of Lachin Corridor & on member states having mandate for preservation of intl security to take effective steps twds implementation of ICJ Decision.”

Azerbaijani authorities on Sunday set up a checkpoint on the only road connecting the Karabakh with Armenia. Baku also maintained that they have informed the command of the Russian peacekeepers and the Russian-Turkish monitoring center about the installation of the checkpoint.
