Azerbaijan won't invite PACE to observe snap elections

PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijan has not extended an invitation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) to observe the snap parliamentary elections for scheduled for September 1, Report says citing a diplomatic source.

Back in January, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe resolved not to ratify the credentials of the Azerbaijani delegation, which were challenged on the opening day of the session, concluding that the country has “not fulfilled major commitments” stemming from its joining the Council of Europe 20 years ago.

The diplomatic source now says that the participation of a PACE mission in election observation can only be discussed after the confirmation of the Azerbaijani delegation's mandate.
