RA FM discusses Armenian prisoners’ health with ICRC president

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, on a working visit to Geneva, met with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, to discuss cooperation between Armenia and the ICRC, as well as various humanitarian issues.

Mirzoyan specifically addressed the release of Armenian prisoners of war and civilians unlawfully detained in Azerbaijan, emphasizing the fake trials currently taking place.

He expressed concern over their health condition and possible pressure they might be subjected to.

The discussion also covered efforts to clarify the fate of missing persons. Mirzoyan underscored Armenia’s commitment to supporting steps toward resolving this issue, recognizing its sensitivity for the families of the missing.

The FM noted that resolving humanitarian issues could be a crucial factor in establishing stable peace in the region. He provided an update on the Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization process, stressing the need for both sides to demonstrate political will in the ongoing peace treaty negotiations.

The meeting also addressed international and regional developments.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that former military-political leaders of Artsakh held in Baku are being administered psychotropic substances. He cited intelligence reports suggesting the aim is to provoke escalation. Baku denies these allegations.
