Khachaturyan attends Uruguayan president’s inauguration![]() March 3, 2025 - 12:23 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s President Vahagn Khachaturyan, who is on a working visit to Uruguay, attended the inauguration ceremony of President Yamandú Orsi. During the event, he engaged in discussions with leaders and senior officials from various countries. Khachaturyan held talks with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Spain’s King Felipe VI, Panama’s President José Raúl Mulino, Dominican Republic’s President Luis Rodolfo Abinader, and other representatives. During these meetings, the officials exchanged views on international and regional developments, existing challenges, and possible solutions. In Montevideo, Khachaturyan visited the Armenia Square, where he paid tribute to the victims of the Armenian Genocide, laying flowers at a cross-stone monument dedicated to their memory. Khachaturyan had also visited Uruguay in December 2023. Uruguay was the first country to recognize the Armenian Genocide in 1965. In 2024, the Uruguayan House of Representatives unanimously approved a bill requiring all radio and TV stations in the country to broadcast a message on the anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, under the slogan Never Again. Armenia and Uruguay have further strengthened their ties, with Uruguay opening an embassy in Armenia and Armenia establishing one in Uruguay. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
