Armenia, Iran discuss prisoner transfer issues

PanARMENIAN.Net - Chairman of Armenia’s Supreme Judicial Council, Artur Atabekyan, met with Iran’s Ambassador to Armenia, Mehdi Sobhani, to discuss matters related to the transfer, extradition, and deportation of detainees between the two countries.

The discussion covered several legal issues, with a focus on improving mechanisms to better protect the rights of foreign nationals held in custody.

Atabekyan also outlined ongoing judicial reforms aimed at easing the heavy workload of criminal and administrative courts, emphasizing that these measures would help reduce trial durations for foreign citizens.

The sides also addressed other topics of mutual interest and agreed to continue their meetings.
