PanARMENIAN.Net - A delegation from the Aleppo governorate visited the Consulate General of Armenia in Aleppo on March 10.

The meeting was attended by Aleppo’s Deputy Governor Ali Hannouran, Governor’s Advisor Ghassan Farruh, Chief of Staff Abd al-Munai'm Azaddin, Head of Foreign and Political Relations Department Ahmad Badaoui, and Head of Public Relations Department Yasser Mauloi, according to the consulate’s press service.

Armenia’s Consul General Ara Avetisyan highlighted the long-standing warm relations between the Armenian and Syrian peoples, calling them a classic example of interethnic friendship. He emphasized that such ties can contribute to restoring tolerance and overcoming ethnic hostility worldwide. The guests fully agreed, stressing their deep respect and appreciation for Syria’s Armenian citizens and Armenia, a sentiment they pledged to maintain.

During the meeting, the consul general reaffirmed Armenia’s readiness to support and cooperate with Syria’s legitimately elected authorities. He also shared details about Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan’s recent visit to Damascus and the progress in implementing agreements reached during the trip.

Aleppo’s deputy governor expressed willingness to support the work of Armenia’s Consulate General.

Meanwhile, clashes have erupted in Syria between government forces and supporters of former President Bashar al-Assad, resulting in numerous casualties. Among the victims are Armenians, including father and son Antoun and Fadi Boutros, who were killed near the entrance to Latakia on March 7. Nelly Ghulyan, spokesperson for Armenia’s Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, stated that organizing the evacuation of Syrian Armenians is currently impossible due to security concerns.
