France is exploring the possibility of establishing a consular agency in the city of Goris, a topic discussed during a working meeting on March 25 attended by Suren Kesedzhyan, advisor to the Syunik governor, and Arush Arushanyan, head of the Goris community. Also present were French Ambassador to Armenia Olivier Decottignies and officials from Armenia’s Ministries of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, and Foreign Affairs.
The meeting focused on preparations for the Armenian-French decentralization cooperation conference, scheduled to take place in Goris this June. Discussions also included the potential establishment of a French consular agency in the city, according to the Goris Municipality.
The French ambassador highlighted Goris as a Francophone city, describing this cultural tie as a key foundation for enhancing bilateral relations. He emphasized that the upcoming conference aims to deepen cooperation and identify new avenues for partnership between the two nations.
Earlier, Gevorg Parsyan, head of the Kapan community, and Ambassador Decottignies visited the newly opened Francophone Center named after Saint-Étienne to explore further cooperation opportunities.
