Oppose or support: Ghazaryan questions opposition's silence

PanARMENIAN.Net - Edgar Ghazaryan, a public and political figure, addressed the possibility of expressing no confidence in Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a live Facebook broadcast. He emphasized that initiating impeachment proceedings requires a prime minister candidate and at least 36 MPs’ signatures under the no-confidence motion.

According to Ghazaryan, "If the opposition does not express no confidence in Pashinyan, then they trust him."

He stated that there are still three opportunities to initiate a no-confidence motion before 2026. “Failing to use any of them means only one thing — opposition MPs must be ready to hear these unpleasant, disgusting words. If you’re not expressing no confidence in Nikol Pashinyan, then you trust him,” Ghazaryan said, adding that no other explanation will be accepted anymore.

He proposed that each opposition MP nominate a candidate, even up to ten names, and then determine who among them has the broadest support within the opposition bloc.

“With that selected candidate, they should present themselves to the public gathered in front of the parliament and start working with the Civil Contract faction MPs in the same public manner — through live broadcasts — so the public sees who joins the initiative and who doesn’t. Even if this process doesn’t lead to a result, nothing is lost because, in any case, Nikol Pashinyan remains prime minister,” he said.

Ghazaryan added that parliamentary initiative alone would not suffice; public support on the people is also necessary. However, without a clear goal — including impeachment — public gatherings cannot be effective.
