Unity bloc members fined for post-election fireworks

PanARMENIAN.Net - On March 30, after snap elections were held in the community of Parakar, a nighttime fireworks display took place. A video shared online revealed that the fireworks were set off in Volodya Grigoryan’s residential area, the mayoral candidate from the Unity alliance who emerged victorious.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ press service, at around 12:30 a.m. on March 31 in the village of Merdzavan, officers from the Vagharshapat community police department issued a report in connection with the fireworks. The violation was recorded under Article 180, Part 2 of Armenia’s Administrative Offenses Code, as reported by Factor.am .

This article outlines liability for using pyrotechnics during nighttime hours, which carries a fine equal to 100 times the minimum wage.

In the snap municipal council elections held in Parakar, Armavir region, the Unity political alliance received 6,508 votes, Civil Contract party got 3,669, National Progress party 900, and Stability party 426. There were 106 vote count discrepancies in total.

Mane Tandilyan, president of the Country to Live party, wrote on her Facebook page that the party's representative, Volodya Grigoryan—also the Unity bloc candidate—won the election with 57 percent of the vote.
