Russian FM says dialogue with Armenia remains strong

PanARMENIAN.Net - Despite external attempts to undermine allied ties, Russia and Armenia have preserved an active political dialogue and deepened economic cooperation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated in a congratulatory message to Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on the 33rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, TASS reports.

“Despite external efforts to weaken Russian-Armenian allied relations, we have maintained a high level of political dialogue and foreign policy coordination, and developed trade and economic cooperation both bilaterally and within our shared integration framework,” Lavrov noted.

He added that Moscow is ready to continue joint efforts to increase the effectiveness of the partnership, ensure the welfare of both nations’ citizens, and strengthen peace and security in the South Caucasus.

“The establishment of diplomatic relations 33 years ago marked the beginning of the modern phase of bilateral ties between Moscow and Yerevan. Based on shared spiritual and moral values and traditionally strong intersectoral and humanitarian connections, Russia and Armenia have built a comprehensive legal framework and developed multilayered, equitable, and mutually beneficial relations,” the message reads.

In his response, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan noted that during this relatively short historical period, thanks to constructive and effective cooperation, Armenia-Russia interstate relations have strengthened and expanded, grounded in the centuries-old friendship between their peoples.

“In today’s changing global environment, it is crucial to continue our partnership based on our countries’ interests and for the benefit of our peoples. We are guided by long-term, mutually beneficial cooperation in political, socio-economic, humanitarian, and other spheres, and aim to continue and expand meaningful dialogue that fully aligns with our national interests.

I wish you and all the staff of the Russian Foreign Ministry strong health, boundless energy, and continued success, and to the brotherly people of Russia—peace and prosperity,” Mirzoyan wrote.
