Armenia may replace Baku in Iran-Russia exports![]() April 4, 2025 - 15:42 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Iranian company FPS General Director Mostafa Talepbour said Armenia could become an alternative to Azerbaijani routes for exporting Iranian products to the Black Sea region and Russia. He made these remarks during the international conference "Hayk–Iran: A millennial neighborhood." According to Talepbour, Iran primarily exports dairy and agricultural products to Russia. Currently, these goods are mostly transported through Azerbaijan, but frequent disruptions at border crossings cause significant delays for Iranian trucks, reported Sputnik Armenia. “Given its geographic location, Armenia can serve as a stable and secure transit partner for Iran,” Talepbour noted. He added that the growing uncertainty surrounding the Suez Canal further enhances Armenia’s importance in the North-South transport corridor. Armenia could also serve as a transit route for cargo exported from Central Asia, China, and India to European markets. Talepbour emphasized Armenia's strategic role in the development of the Persian Gulf–Black Sea international transport corridor. At the same time, he pointed to one of the main obstacles to the initiative: the Azerbaijani-Turkish push for the "Zangezur Corridor" project. In a related statement on April 3, Pouya Hosseini, head of the Foundation for the Development of Armenia-Iran Cooperation, said Armenia and Iran are prepared to cooperate in arms supply, intelligence sharing, and other security matters. ![]() ![]() Yerevan has dismissed Turkey’s demand to shut down the Armenian nuclear power plant as “inappropriate”.
