Over 11,000 Artsakh Armenians leave RA by March![]() April 8, 2025 - 15:02 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - As of March 1, 2025, a total of 26,899 forcibly displaced residents of Artsakh have departed Armenia, while 15,642 have returned. This means that since the forced displacement in September 2023, 11,257 people have left and not yet returned. The data was provided by Armenia’s National Security Service, reports CivilNet. Alongside the increase in those leaving, the number of returning Artsakh residents is also rising. Recent months have shown a slightly positive trend. Starting in April, the monthly aid of 50,000 AMD (40,000 + 10,000) intended for living expenses and other costs of the displaced will be reduced to 40,000 AMD. This reduced amount will be allocated only to certain groups: individuals with a disability (first or second category), persons aged 63 and over, those who have lost a breadwinner, and recipients of social benefits or pensions, as well as children under 18. Between July and December 2025, aid will be further reduced to 30,000 AMD and will still be granted only to these select groups. These changes are expected to potentially accelerate emigration among displaced Artsakh Armenians. On October 26, 2023, the Armenian government granted temporary protection status to displaced Artsakh residents, officially recognizing them as refugees. In January, the Migration and Citizenship Service told Infocom that approximately 150,000 individuals had been displaced, although it noted that providing an exact number remains difficult. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult.
