Yerevan rejects Baku's false fire allegations

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia has rejected false claims from Azerbaijan that Armenian forces opened fire at Azerbaijani positions.

“The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense’s statement alleging that, on April 8 between 19:20 and 22:30, Armenian Armed Forces units opened fire toward Azerbaijani positions located in the southeastern section of the border does not reflect reality,” Armenia’s Ministry of Defense stated.

The ministry recalled that the Armenian Prime Minister’s Office previously proposed the creation of a joint Armenia-Azerbaijan mechanism for investigating ceasefire violations and related reports—a proposal that has yet to receive any response from Azerbaijan.

“The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia reaffirms its readiness, in line with the position of the Prime Minister’s Office, to investigate the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry’s claims, provided that the relevant evidence is shared with Armenia,” the statement continued.

Since March 16, Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry has issued multiple daily claims alleging gunfire from Armenian positions. These claims have been consistently denied by the Armenian Ministry of Defense and have also been dismissed by the European Union Monitoring Mission.
