Armenia dismisses new Azerbaijani ceasefire violation report

The Ministry of Defense of Armenia has denied disinformation disseminated by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense, which claimed that on April 18 at 22:35, Armenian Armed Forces units allegedly opened fire toward Azerbaijani positions located in the southeastern section of the border.

“The statement by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense that on April 18 at approximately 22:35, Armenian units opened fire at Azerbaijani positions in the southeastern border area does not correspond to reality,” the Armenian MoD stated.

The ministry also reminded that the Armenian Prime Minister’s office had proposed creating a joint Armenia-Azerbaijan mechanism to investigate ceasefire violations or related claims, but Azerbaijan has yet to respond to this initiative.

The Armenian Ministry of Defense reaffirmed that, in line with the Prime Minister’s position, it is ready to investigate the Azerbaijani MoD’s allegations if Azerbaijan presents substantiating evidence.

Since March 16, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense has repeatedly spread disinformation alleging gunfire from the Armenian side. Armenia’s MoD consistently refutes these claims. The EU monitoring mission has also dismissed Baku’s disinformation.
