China eyes Armenia in new transport integration move![]() April 23, 2025 - 12:59 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - China is preparing to integrate Armenia into its vast transportation network under the framework of the historic Belt and Road Initiative. In a first, China’s chargé d’affaires in Armenia, Min Chen, discussed the possibility of Armenia’s inclusion in an interview with Turkish publication Turkiye Gazetesi, as reported by Factor.am . Min Chen highlighted that Beijing aims to actively involve Armenia—described as a “crossroads of the world”—in the Belt and Road project. He announced that a bilateral agreement on transport cooperation is expected soon, which he believes could transform the economic landscape of the South Caucasus. The Chinese diplomat also addressed China-Turkey relations, emphasizing Turkey’s geopolitical importance, economic potential, and irreplaceable role in the Middle Corridor. He described the partnership between China and Turkey as a strategic alliance rooted in the legacy of the ancient Silk Road. Chen noted the ongoing active dialogue between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and underlined Turkey’s unique geographical role linking Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, making it a key hub for Chinese companies in logistics and production. China has also recently signed a strategic cooperation declaration with Azerbaijan. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
